BOUNDARIES OF THE DISTRICT

The district shares borders with districts of  Virudhunagar to the north, Ramanathapuram to the north-east, Tirunelveli to the west and south-west and Tenkasi to the north-west. Tamiraparani River passes along the district bordering Thoothukudi and Papanasam in the Ambasamudram taluk . The largest taluk and town in the district is Kovilpatti.
